The work of «Preservation of cultural heritage» section of the V Saint Petersburg International Cultural Forum started with a presentation of XII national award «Cultural Heritage» that is given for outstanding contribution into preservation and revival of real estate objects of Russian cultural heritage.
«This is a distinguished and prestigious award that every year receives about 100 entries. Only true enthusiasts become the laureates of the award, and the number of such heroes preserving our heritage is vast», — presented the award the head of the section Oleg Ryzhkov.
The main feature of this year is active involvement of the youth. Nomination called «New generation» will be started for the first time; its laureates will be young art experts, archeologists, conservation architects, museum workers, town planners and local historians.
Another nomination of this year is «Historical settlement» that is aimed at support of mayors, administration representatives and local historians who sincerely care for preservation of historical settlements.
«Those people who devote all their lives to preservation of the heritage of our country become the laureates of the award. They come from small towns, their names are not mentioned in newspapers, but they do the most important thing for Russia – they try to pass to our children and grandchildren our wealth, our cultural heritage, language and history. In whatever region you are, please look for such people and send information about them to the Organizing Committee, because the award has to find its heroes», — asked the member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Deputy Director of the Museum-Reserve of V. Polenov Natalya Gramolina.
National award «Cultural Heritage» was established in 2005 by the National Foundation «Revival of Russian Manors» with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture. The award is aimed at finding and supporting socially valuable initiatives that will let preserve historical legacy for current and future generations.
Authors of projects in the spheres of preservation, popularization and revival of cultural heritage objects can be competitors for the award. Among them are cultural workers, local historians, restorers and architects, patrons, writers and many others. In all the time of the existence of the award more than 350 persons have been its laureates and nominees.
Acceptance of applications to the competition started on 1st of November and will last until 5th of March, 2017. The official ceremony of awarding the «Cultural Heritage» laureates will take place on 25th of May in Moscow.
