A presentation of a concert hall in the “Zaryadye” park took place on December 1 in the General Staff building of the State Hermitage museum as part of the V St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. Chief architect of Moscow, the head of the “Creative Industry and Urban Science” section Sergey Kuznetsov and the artistic head and general director of the Mariinsky theatre Valery Gergiev told about the importance of joint work on creating concert venues.
“The open venue will be under a glass cover. With the help of special technologies comfortable atmosphere and appropriate culture will be maintained inside, and perhaps solar panels will be used to provide electricity”, - said Sergey Kuznetsov about the concert hall in “Zaryadye”. Besides an open amphitheatre, a philharmonic for chamber orchestras will be constructed. At the press-conference after the presentation of the project at the Cultural Forum Sergey Kuznetsov said that the park itself will open in 2017, and the concert hall will start functioning in the beginning of 2018.
“The concert hall in “Zaryadye” has more opportunities than Mariinsky II, it can hold operas and ballets”, - said Valery Gergiev. Designers plan massive works on the acoustics under the supervision of the head of the Mariinksy theatre. “Everyone wants to create a perfect hall, but few can do it. I can say for sure that we’ve had to perform in halls with awful acoustics quite often”, - said Valery Gergiev. The maestro emphasized, that hopes to achieve great acoustics in the “Zaryadye” concert hall.
