A session famous ballet masters, a general rehearsal of “The Stone Flower” ballet of Yuriy Grigorovich and the Anatoly Lunacharsky Award and the “Musical Olympus” Award ceremonies will take place on December 3 at the Cultural Forum.
The third day of the Cultural Forum will summarize this year’s key topic. The “Prokofiev on ballet stage” (starts at 15.00) and a session of outstanding ballet masters – Yuriy Grigorovich, Nikolai Tsiskaridze and Valery Gergiev – will take place in the Mariinsky Theatre. After that participants will have a chance to see the general rehearsal of Sergey Prokofiev’s “The Stone Flower”, which is dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the composer and the 9th anniversary of the director.
The “Music and cinema: together or apart?” discussion (Starts at 11.00) will start at the central venue in the General Staff building of the State Hermitage museum. Composers Eric Serra, Vladimir Dashkevich and Maxim Dunaevsky, director Alexey German, violinist, director and the head of the “Music” section of the Forum Sergey Stadler will discuss whether music, created for movies, can exist independently, how music for films is created and the role of music in cinema. At the end of the discussion Fabio Mastrangelo’s“Northern Symphony” orchestra of the “Music Hall” theatre will perform a unique program of pieces from Russian and foreign films.
A meeting of heads of international festivals (starts at 10.00) will become an important event of the Forum. The head of the board of directors of the Festival of Athens and Epidaurus Elena Teodoratou, the representative of the European Cultural Forum Walter Zampier and the vice-mayor of Avignon on international cooperation and tourism Jacques Montignac, who will present the Avignon Festival, will participate in the Festival of Festivals. Participants will discuss the specificity and achievements of all presented forums and festivals, organizational challenges of the 21st century and financing issues. Participants will also discuss formats of future cooperation within the Festival of Festivals.
Official award-giving ceremonies will take place in the evening of December 3. Anatoly Lunacharsky Award will be presented for the second time at the Forum. The award was established to for cultural workers, who do not represent creative professions. From 194 nominees 10 best workers of culture received the award in 2016. Also the “Museum Olympus” award for museum staff for considerable contribution to the development of museums and museum industry in Saint Petersburg, will be presented at the Forum.
Also the program of the last day of the Forum includes a presentation of the project of the State Hermitage centre in the former ZIL factory building in Moscow (starts at 12.00). A round table on copyright protection will take place at the business venue in the Russian Museum of Ethnography and the “Culture 2.0” lyceum will resume, where the head of the National Theatre Live department of the Royal National Theatre (London) Emma Kate (starts at 17.15) will share experience in organizing live broadcasts of theatre plays of the National Theatre worldwide, and the founder of the “Alligator” startup, the former director of Google Cultural Institute programs James Davis will tell about effective cooperation between tech companies and cultural organizations (starts at 20.15).
The “Musical Promenade” in the “Manege” exhibition hall will become another bright event of the Public event flow, which will present a fresh look on the classics with the best performance of the cultural capital: “BIS-KVIT” ensemble, “Divertissement” chamber orchestra, Sergey Stadler’s Saint Petersburg Symphony Orchestra (starts at 15.00).
